Maria's Elves

These are forest elves from Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, England. Their garb and colour is designed to blend in with the woodland (well mostly). Each elf is a one off and cannot be repeated. The elves cost £40 each, and can be viewed at the Patchings Art Centre Studio. The bodies of the  elves are made from silk, either plain or painted. They are dressed in hand made felt, or machine embroidered hand painted silk. the limbs are button jointed and  wired, making them posable. Their faces are needle sculpted and hand painted with glass eyes and their hair is created from naturally curly hand dyed wool. Each elf is hand crafted using a variety of techniques and therefore full of individual character and personality. Click on any picture for an enlarged version.
